Kildare forward Neill Flynn has made a timely return to fitness for the final rounds of the National League.

The Maynooth man tore his hamstring after just two minutes of the opening night defeat to Dublin at the end of January, but he has battled back quickly and trained for the first time almost 10 days ago.

“Neill is back training as and from last Tuesday,” stated manager Cian O’Neill to KildareNow.

“That’s why for many, many reasons the weather came at a bad time. Neill was just back in his first full session and I’m looking forward to seeing him build back up into match fitness and growing into the setup fully on the pitch. He has been working away diligently and now he’s back it’s great for him and it’s a great boost for the squad.”

Sunday’s game with Mayo may come too soon for Flynn, but his return will boost the attacking options at O’Neill’s disposal.
