Former Kildare GAA underage star lands Young Player of the Year award following strong season with Waterford FC

Former Kildare GAA underage star Rory Feely has been recognised for his strong performances with Waterford FC in the Airtricity League this year, earning the Young Player of the Year accolade at their end of season awards.
The 21-year-old featured for Waterford 30 times in the top tier of Irish football this season after signing for the Munster-based club at the beginning of January, featuring in all but six of their games. He played a pivotal role at the heart of their defence, scoring two league goals for his new side as they finished fourth in the league on their first season in the top tier following promotion from the First Division.

Feely, who helped his home GAA club Athy to the U21 A Championship final in Kildare last year, previously played for the Lilywhites at minor and U21 level.
He was on the radar of Kildare senior manager Cian O'Neill until his decision to pursue a professional soccer career, and he has gone from strength to strength with his new club.
