History beckons for Johnstownbridge today as they go in search of All-Ireland glory

It's a big day for the Johnstownbridge club of Kildare as they take on Galway side Athenry in the All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championship final this afternoon in Croke Park.

The ladies from the western border of the county have been on a remarkable journey over the last number of years, capturing two All-Ireland Championship titles at the junior grade before finally being allowed to make the step up to intermediate this year.

After beating Celbridge in last year's Kildare county final they went on a fine run in Leinster, culminating in a thrilling win over Carlow's Myshall in the Leinster final and making it to the last four in Ireland.

They took on Eglish of Tyrone in the All-Ireland semi-final, and victory there propelled them towards today's Croke Park decider against the Galway champions.

Throw-in this afternoon is scheduled for 1.30pm.
