Kildare footballers Aaron Masterson and Jimmy Hyland have been nominated for the Eirgrid U20 Player of the Year award after helping their county claim the inaugural U20 Championship title in August.
The pair are nominated alongside Mayo captain Ryan O'Donoghue who led his side to the final where they were defeated by Kildare.
It was Moorefield man Masterson who lifted the cup at the end of that game in Croke Park as he captained his side to a superb win. The rangy midfielder was superb for the Lilywhites throughout the championship, dominating aerially, creating chances with his boundless energy, and also kicking some superb scores.

Hyland was the name on everyone's lips after the All-Ireland final however as the Ballyteague man tore Mayo to shreds by kicking 10 points - eight from play - in a mesmerising display. He landed successive Man of the Match awards in the Leinster final, All-Ireland semi-final and final, clocking up a combined tally of 1-26 across those three games.
Both men are likely to feature at senior level for Kildare in the coming year, and both are currently starring for their clubs who are into the quarter-finals of the Senior and Intermediate Football Championships.
