Extra time win for Prosperous side
Future Ticketing MHL Final 2026
Éire Óg Corra Choill 2-18
Clane (ext) 2-16
Éire Óg Corra Choill captured the Future Ticketing MHL Division 1 title on Tuesday evening, defeating Clane, after two points, at Celbridge GAA Headquarters, Hazelhatch Road.
Played in challenging conditions while the rain did stop just prior to the start, returning later, but it made conditions very slippy and challenging.
While Éire Óg Corra Choill took an early lead, 0-4 to 0-1 after fourteen minutes,, it was a goal on 18 minutes from Eoin Collins for the Prosperous boys and while that lead was pushed out to 1-7 to 0-7 as we approached half-time, a goal in time added on from Adam Conway saw the sides level at the break at 1-7 apiece.
Simon Connolly had been the main man for Éire Óg Corra Choill in that opening half while Jack O’Dea was the danger man for the boys in white.
The opening eight points of the second half were shared equally before the boys in maroon opened a three point lead.
As we approached full time, the title looked to be heading to Éire Óg Corra Choill but a penalty on 60 minutes saw Jack O’Dea make no mistake forcing the game into extra time - Éire Óg Corra Choill1-15 Clane 2-12.
The rain returned and it was Clane who got the upper hand going three clear but Éire Óg Corra Choill came back strongly to level up before half-time, Ryan Cooke bringing the sides level.
The second half of extra time saw both sides miss a few chances before Éire Óg Corra Choill finally, through a Simon Connolly free, edged ahead with the dynamic no. 11 adding another free as the final whistle arrived with Éire Óg Corra Choill taking the title, after a very enjoyable game, on a final score line of Éire Óg Corra Choill 2-18 Clane 2-16.
