Allianz NHL Division 2A

Kildare hold a lead of just one point at half-time here in St Conleth's Park, despite dominating almost the entirety of the first half over their Leinster rivals.

At one stage the Lilywhites led 0-10 to 0-4 as Martin Fitzgerald kept the scoreboard ticking with a succession of frees, while Gerry Keegan has chipped in with two sublime scores too. Debutant Jack Sheridan almost netted midway through the half, but a desperate scramble on the line allowed the Carlow defence to clear the ball and Kildare came away empty handed.

A Ross Smithers goal three minutes before the break brought Carlow back into the tie, while further points from Denis Murphy drew them to within one point going into the interval.
