Kildare hurlers find out who they will be facing in the Christy Ring Cup semi-final... And it's an old foe

It will be a local derby with plenty riding on it when Kildare line out for the semi-final of the Christy Ring Cup in two weeks' time.

After consecutive wins in the first two rounds of the competition over Wicklow and London, Meath made it straight through to the semi-final of the competition, and they have been pitted against Kildare for the third year running. Revenge will be very much on the cards for the Royals after they suffered an eight point defeat in St Loman's Park at the hands of Kildare in last year's quarter-final, while the Lilywhites also beat them in the 2014 semi-final before going on to win the tournament outright.

Kildare sealed their place in the final four of the competition with a victory over London in Newbridge on Saturday afternoon, and manager Joe Quaid said he wasn't too pushed over whether they would have to meet Antrim again or play Meath in the semi-final.

"It makes no difference. If you win[the Christy Ring Cup] you have to beat both of them, and it doesn't bother me. If you get beaten it hurts, whether it's in a semi-final or a final. We just have to get our own shop in order, give the boys a few days off now, let them back to their clubs," said Quaid.

"We'll release the fellas that are able to play. It's good to get back to the clubs, to clear your head from county for a bit, and we'll be back and refocused again for the semi-final, whoever it is. I'm actually not too pushed whoever it is," he concluded.

The game will be played on Saturday May 21 in Trim.
