Kildare ranked 16th in Ireland last year for money spent on county teams

Kildare's intercounty team expenses amount to €636,000 in 2016, ranking them as the 16th highest spenders in Ireland according to the Irish Independent.
The charges relate to both the footballers and the hurlers, with Cian O'Neill's senior side making it to a league final in Croke Park and accruing expenses during a championship campaign that entailed four games, including a trip to Mayo where they were eventually knocked out on July 16.
Expenses from the hurlers amounted from a trip to London in the National League and they were also involved in the Christy Ring Cup until the semi-final stages.
The minor football team were the side that went deepest into the summer months, making an All-Ireland quarter-final, while the U21 footballers lost out in a Leinster final to Dublin. The U21 hurlers made it to the last four of the All-Ireland B Championship where they lost to Mayo.
Mayo were the highest spenders of any county in Ireland, accruing €1.63 million in expenses, while Dublin spent €1.51 on their county teams. Louth were the lowest spenders in the country, with their county teams having just €295,631 spent on them.
