Ruby Walsh is well on track for a comeback for this year’s Cheltenham festival after he confirmed that he is now half way through his recovery from a broken leg.

The Kildare jockey fell from Let’s Dance at a meeting in Punchestown on November 18, sparking fears that he would not make it back in time for the pinnacle week of the racing calendar.

Walsh said that he is progressing well in his recovery however, and he should be back in action by late February all going to plan.

"I'd say it's looking mid to late February (for a return to action) - that would be the plan,” he said.

"The physio is going well and the doctors are happy with the bone.

"It's essentially 12 weeks for the bone to heal and then how many ever weeks it takes you to get right.

"Seven and a half (weeks) done, seven and a half to go."
