Brian Byrne will be kept on his toes this weekend as he partakes in a Sigerson Cup Semi-Final on Saturday with UCD and a crunch National Hurling League game with Kildare on Sunday.
The Naas man already has a Sigerson Cup medal to his name after UCD defeated NUIG of Galway in last year's final and he is hoping to repeat the trick this week.
Byrne is studying for a Masters at the Dublin based College and he is part of a star studdded squad that will take on St.Mary's of Belfast in Mallow tomorrow afternoon.
As well as himself, Moorefield's Mark Dempsey, Sarsfield's Conor Hartley and Maynooth's Darren Maguire are the other Kildare representatives on a panel which includes inter-county stars like Con O'Callaghan, Liam Silke, Conor McCarthy, Conor Meyler and Evan O'Carroll.
UCD are hot favourites to make it back to back titles with the other semi-final involving NUIG and UCC taking place on Sunday and the final is scheduled for Wednesday night.
Win or lose Byrne will make the trip back from Leeside for Kildare's National Hurling League game against Derry in St.Conleth's Park on Sunday.
Byrne who is vice captain has had a major impact in the Lillywhites opening two victories with 1-5 and 3-16 scored against Donegal and Warwickshire respectively.
The game will be seen as Kildare's first major test in Division 2B with Derry also unbeaten to date.
A win would see Kildare in pole position to reach the League Final and achieve their ultimate aim of promotion.
