Hawkfield was a sea of colour on Saturday afternoon as it played host to eight U14 Championship Finals involving 15 clubs from across the Kildare. All eight finals produced plenty of excitement for the large support present.
The day was very warm with suncream and water in huge demand. Three pitches were in play as the action commenced at 2pm with the Div 8 Final between Caragh and Celbridge culminating with the Div 1 final at 7pm between St Laurences and Kilcullen.
The action was non-stop throughout the afternoon and each club can be proud of their teams performances. Only eight teams can bring home the respective cups that were on offer but every team that participated were already winners in our eyes as each final produced excellent skills, scoring and brilliant all round play.
Special word of thanks to Kildare GAA for the use of Hawkfield, to all our referees for officiating the games, to our fixtures secretaries Mag O Neill and Sinead Brereton for arranging and running the U14 championships with the help of all the various divisional coordinators.
To our County Executive for working hard not just on the day but throughout the course of the year keeping Kildare LGFA to such a high standard. Well done to everyone for making the day a special one for each of the girls that participated.
