TRAFFIC: Long delays on motorways with slushy conditions
7:51 Monday 4th of March 2019

Icy conditions have been reported this morning around Carlow Town, Naas, Portlaoise, Tullamore, Mullingar, Thurles, Kildare Town and Wicklow Town.

A Status Yellow Snow-Ice Warning is valid for the whole country until 8am today.

There are long delays on the N7 inbound from Junctiom 5 Athgoe to the Red Cow Interchange, where an incident is blocking the left lane.

AA Roadwatch advised to leave plenty of extra time to fully de-ice your car and in affected areas, slow down, leave plenty of of space behind the car in front and keep all manoeuvres gentle.

Particular care is advised on secondary and local routes, and on higher ground, where snow and ice may linger.

Caution is advised on the M7 northbound between Newbridge and Naas, where it's icy this morning.

It may also be slippery on parts of the M9.

Particularly slippery conditions have been reported on the N80 on the Stradbally side of Portlaoise.

The Sally Gap is closed due to dangerous road conditions. Roads conditions on routes through the Wicklow Gap are also very poor.
