An Post 'horrified' after van seen driving on footpath in Kildare

An Post said the vehicle involved had been taken out of service several months ago
An Post said it has launched a full investigation after one of its vans was filmed speeding along a footpath in Co Kildare.
The undated footage, which has since gone viral on social media, shows an An Post van travelling along a footpath in the village of Kill.
The vehicle can be seen passing close to the entrance of a property before the footage cuts as the van approaches the entrance to a nearby housing estate.
An Post said it was “horrified” by what is shown in the video and confirmed that the vehicle involved had been taken out of service several months ago.
An internal investigation was launched after the company became aware of the footage.
“An internal investigation was launched as soon as we became aware of this footage yesterday,” an An Post spokesperson told the Leinster Leader.
“We were horrified.
“The driving depicted contravenes all our rules and high standards of driving. We cannot comment on individual cases but can confirm that this is being dealt with as a very serious, urgent matter.”
The company said it was now working to establish when the incident occurred, given that the van had ceased operating several months ago.
“An Post maintains very high standards of driving and all drivers receive ongoing training and refresher updates in safe driving, securing vehicles, driving in various weather conditions etc,” the spokesperson added.
