Kildare gardaí condemn drink driver who was four times over legal limit

The motorist has been charged and is due to appear before the courts
Gardaí in County Kildare have condemned the actions of a drink driver who was almost four times over the legal limit.
As explained by the official An Garda Síochána Kildare account on Facebook, gardaí with the Naas Roads Policing Unit recently attended a road traffic collision in Kilcullen.
According to the account, subsequent testing revealed that the driver was almost four times over the legal alcohol limit.
The account continued: Think about that; this person made the decision to get behind the wheel while heavily intoxicated.
“They then ended up involved in a collision.”
The account noted:
- It could have been a completely different outcome
- It could have been a child crossing the road
- It could have been a family travelling home
- It could have been a pedestrian
- It could have been you
‘CONSEQUENCES THAT CAN LAST FOREVER’
The account further said: “There is nothing harmless about drink driving; it destroys lives, devastates families and leaves consequences that can last forever.
“The message is simple: IF YOU DRINK, DO NOT DRIVE.
“There is no excuse, no justification, and no second chance if you kill someone.
“The motorist has been charged and will appear before the courts shortly.”
The account concluded: “Drive sober, get home alive, and make sure everyone else does too.”
