Closed Kildare road to re-open for Christmas

Works on the Enfield Water Supply Scheme are being carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Coffey
Motorists are being advised of an intermittent road closure in the Kilbride area of Co Kildare to facilitate works on the Enfield Water Supply Scheme.
Kildare County Council has issued a notice confirming that the L5028-1 road will be subject to intermittent closures from Monday, November 9, 2026, until Saturday, January 30, 2027.
The works are being carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Coffey.
However the road will reopen over the Christmas period, from Wednesday, December 23, 2026, until Monday, January 4, 2027.
According to the council's notice, the closure will apply to the section of the L5028-1 in Kilbride, between its junctions with the L5031-0 and L50281-0.
Closures may be in place for up to 24 hours at a time.
Diversion routes will be clearly signposted and agreed with Kildare County Council and An Garda Síochána.
Motorists travelling southbound on the L1007 will be diverted via the L5029, L5030 and L5031 before rejoining the route at the L5028 junction.
Traffic travelling westbound on the L5028 will follow the reverse diversion via the same local roads.
The temporary traffic arrangements are intended to facilitate the delivery of works associated with the Enfield Water Supply Scheme.
Road users are advised to allow additional time for their journeys and follow the signposted diversion routes while the works are ongoing.
