Northern Ireland man gets green light for nearly 150 homes in Kildare

Mix of houses, apartments and duplex units
Planning permission has been granted for a €27 million large-scale residential development at Southgreen Road, Kildare town, which will deliver 146 new homes along with a creche and significant public amenities.
The approved scheme will include a mix of houses, apartments and duplex units ranging from one to three storeys in height across the 6.13 hectare site.
The development will comprise 136 houses, including seven two-bedroom homes, 102 three-bedroom homes and 27 four-bedroom homes.
A further 10 own-door apartment and duplex units will be provided in a new residential block, including one, two and three-bedroom units.
Each home will be provided with private open space, while the development will also include a 161 square metre creche facility with associated outdoor space.
The plans include more than 7,000 square metres of public open space across two large areas within the site, along with communal open space adjacent to the apartment block.
A total of 321 car parking spaces will be provided, including resident, visitor and creche parking, alongside 527 cycle parking spaces.
The development will be served by two new vehicular access points from Southgreen Road, with additional access from Old Road.
Pedestrian and cycling links will also be created, including a new connection between Southgreen Road and Old Road.
The project includes upgrades to Southgreen Road with new cycle tracks and footpaths, as well as infrastructure works including drainage, landscaping, boundary treatments, internal roads, waste storage areas and renewable energy measures.
The development is expected to provide a significant addition to housing supply in Kildare town while improving local walking and cycling infrastructure.
