Monasterevin Day Care Centre welcomed members of the public to a special open day, showcasing its new facilities and highlighting the valuable service it provides to older people in the community.
The event, held on Bank Holiday Monday, October 26, gave visitors an opportunity to meet staff, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and explore the impressive new day care centre and garden.
A particularly moving moment was the dedication of a room in memory of the late Marie Heavey, who passed away earlier this year.
Marie attended the centre for many years and was remembered as a selfless woman who gave generously to others.
Local councillor Pat Balfe described the occasion as a very special day and paid tribute to everyone involved in making the event a success.
He praised Aaron Sheppard, Lorna Brereton and all the staff for their hard work, dedication and commitment to those who use the facility.
Cllr Balfe also expressed his pride in serving on the Day Care Committee, saying he looked forward to supporting the continued development of the centre and its essential services.
The open day was a celebration of community spirit, remembrance and the importance of providing welcoming facilities for older people in Monasterevin.
