Best pal pays touching tribute to four victims of Athy crash one year on

The heartbroken best friend of four pals who tragically died in a car crash has paid a touching tribute to her beloved friends a year on from the accident. Still-grieving Dayna Kearney (main pic above) remembered friends Aisling Middleton, Niamh Doyle, Gemma Nolan and Chermaine Carroll who lost their lives in the crash near Athy, Co Kildare on January 6 last year. An ice-skating trip turned to tragedy when the car they were travelling in collided with a VW Transporter. image Dayna revealed that it has been the "worst year" of her life . In a moving Facebook post, Ms Kearney said she "will continue to try live my life they way my four beautiful friends would have wanted me too, even though it's hard at times". The five girls had been the best of friends and attended St Leo's College in Co Carlow together. Dayna wrote: "This day last year I went ice skating with 4 of my best friends which turned from a great day to a horrific and tragic night for many. "I lost four of the greatest friends who meant so much to me. They were all wonderful people to be around, each in their own way. "This year has been a blur and has gone by so fast. It has been the worst year of my life and also many other people's life. Life is not the same and never will be the same when you lose someone you've seen or spoken to everyday." She continued: "I am trying and will continue to try live my life the way my four beautiful friends would have wanted me to, even though its hard at times. "Today I think about all the girls families and friends as it is going to be a particularly hard day. I just want to thank everybody who has been there for me the past year! I do not know where I would be without the brilliant support."
