Attic research: You could buy 5 houses in 1990 for the price of just one today!

The price for a four-bed semi-detached home in Celbridge in 1990 was almost €75,000 in today's money. We know this because a KildareNow reader in Naas sent us an old newspaper clipping he found in his attic while spring cleaning. The edition of the Evening Herald dated February 9th, 1990 had property adverts for Celbridge (below). And there's an ad for the 'superb development' of The Grove in Celbridge  - a 4-bed semi-d for £59,000 or €74,900 in today's currency. The price now for a home in The Grove, is about €375,000, which is €74,900 multiplied by 5. Our eagle-eyed reader added: "Numerically, you could buy FIVE of those houses in 1990 for the amount you pay for ONE in 2017!" Here are also photos of property ads in Naas and Leixlip found in the attic.
