Offaly hotel worker wins €30k on scratch card

Daniel Cooke, who is a Hotel Porter at the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore was in flying form as he collected his All Cash Tripler scratch card top prize of €30,000. He said: "“I bought the winning scratch card on Friday so I’ve been itching to come up to the National Lottery to collect my prize all weekend. "The ticket has been burning a hole in my pocket since then!” he laughed. Lucky Daniel (26) who hails Kilcormac in Co. Offaly purchased his winning scratch card at O’Hanlon’s store on Bridge Street in Tullamore. The €3 All Cash Tripler scratch card has a massive 24 top prizes of €30,000, of which 11 are still remaining. He added: “My family, friends and colleagues in the Bridge House Hotel helped me to celebrate over the weekend so it’s great to finally get the cheque in my hand. "Only recently, I won another €5,000 scratch card prize so I’d consider myself a very lucky person.” The lucky Offaly man who is also an avid plane spotter has promised himself and his father a once in a lifetime trip to America. “I absolutely love travelling and I have a keen interest in airplanes so I’ll definitely be planning a holiday somewhere in the United States with my dad who has always been very supportive of me,” he added. Another lucky winner, from Balbriggan in Dublin, picked up a €30,000 on cheque alongside with his wife and daughter, after getting lucky on an All Cash Tripler scratch card. The pensioner wasn’t one for hanging around as he won two free scratch cards on Saturday night’s Lotto draw, where the winning ticket worth €9.4 million was also sold in Dublin, and immediately went to claim his freebies in the Tesco Extra store in Balbriggan. “I was in shock – I still am, I think”, said the winner. “I knew the Lotto was won that night so the last thing I expected when I got the cards that there would be 30 grand on one of them.” When asked what he will spend his winnings on, he said: “Well first of all, we’re going to get some breakfast and then we are off to the travel agent to book a holiday for the three of us. We’re going to get some late summer sun – I’m thinking somewhere on the Costa del Sol. I’ll also pay off our car loan so that will be one less bill every month.” The family have had some luck on scratch cards before as the wife of our winner had three small wins last year ranging from €30 to €100.
