Several Garda vehicles, ambulances and Kildare Fire Service personnel responded to the incident. A witness reported seeing a group of family members consoling each other at the scene of the station.
An Irish Rail spokesperson said earlier: "There are ongoing disruptions to services through Sallins as all services are suspended due to a tragic incident on the line. "Emergency services are attending, significant delays are expected, updates to follow."
