Kildare GAA has paid tribute to Maynooth and Kildare GAA star Shane Nolan who died tragically yesterday. Talented Shane represented Kildare up to under 21 level and was part of successful Leinster and All Ireland winning teams. Shane's father Colm Nolan is the current chairman of the County Hurling Committee. A Kildare GAA spokesperson said: "We would like to express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Shane." Shane is mourned by his devastated parents Colm and Kathleen, brothers Conor and Stephen, grandfather Tommie, Nana Breda, girlfriend Orlaith, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and a large circle of friends. Maynooth Students Union, where Shane was a student, also posed a warm tribute online and accompanied it with photos of Shane. The Union said: "It is with great, great sadness that MSU has learned of the passing of past student and good friend Shane Nolan. This news has come as a shock to all of us. "An ever present sight in the SU, Shane was always up for a chat and willing to lend a helping hand. His cheeky smile brightened many a day on campus and he will be sorely missed." The statement added; "We are truly devastated by this loss and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Shane at this tough time. "Shane will be fondly remembered and forever hold a place in our hearts." Removal will take place on Friday at 12.30pm to arrive at St. Mary's Church, Maynooth for 1pm Funeral Mass, followed by burial in Laraghbryan Cemetery. Family flowers only please and donations have been requested for Pieta House.
