Man who knew Amanda is charged in connection with her murder

A 35-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of mother-of-two Amanda Carroll in Dublin at the weekend. Amanda ( 33) was found dead in her apartment by her 16-year-old son at the Homestead Court complex in Cabra at around 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon. Another son is aged just five years old.     A post-mortem examination showed that she died from strangulation. The eldest son returned from a football game and found her unconscious in the apartment. The stay-at-home mum, a former child-development student in Marino College, had lived at Homestead Court Apartments for the past 11 years. Gardai spend yesterday conducting house-to-house inquiries as well as gathering CCTV footage in the area.   The accused, who knew Ms Carroll, was arrested on Sunday and is due to appear in court later today.
He will appear before Criminal Courts of Justice at 10.30am.
