Eimear is originally from Kilcock and lives with her son, while her mother and siblings also continue to live in the area. She began writing her own original songs in her teenage years. Eimear would go on to attend secondary school at Dunshaughlin Community College and then going on to do a BA degree in Irish and Music at Maynooth University, before also doing a Masters and HDip in Youth and Community Work at National University Ireland Maynooth. Meanwhile, Eimear works as a creative coach and she along with her sister Claire run their own music school and community space SpeakUp SingOut open since 2015, encouraging engagement in music for everyone and offering a wide range of group and individual tuition. Eimear also continues to perform with the band FXY.or everyone aged 6 months to 100 year Eimear's music for the album draws on gospel, soul and folk and uses piano, guitar and vocal harmony to bring its listener on a journey, as she has years of experience performing gospel, funk and soul with bands and choirs. Speaking to KildareNow, Eimear explained that she has been interested in music from a young age. “I was always really interested in music, in my teenage years I wrote songs but it wasn’t until about 2009/2010 before I started singing. For the last 9 years I have performed with FXY (formerly Fox E and the Good Hands) and the album is my first solo venture from the band,” said Eimear. Eimear’s debut album is called ‘Scars’ and she was inspired to create the album following the passing of her father. She said: “The album was inspired after my father died when I realized that life is too short. The album is put together from songs over the last 9 years or so and I’ve recorded the songs in studio over the last year. There are 9 tracks and all but one are original songs, one cover is ‘Come As You Are’ and the SUSO Gospel Choir features on the album.” [caption id="attachment_256874" align="alignnone" width="335"] Eimear Crehan (right) and sister Claire run SpeakUp SingOut in Kilcock[/caption] [caption id="attachment_256875" align="alignnone" width="333"] Creative cover art for the debut album Scars[/caption] Indeed, Eimear’s first music video for her title single ‘Scars’ was released last week and it is currently ahead of British rock band Coldplay on Spotify and also doing well placing in the Top 20 of the Irish music charts.
