By Kim O'Leary A lot of fantastic musical talent is coming out of Co Kildare lately and talented singer/guitarist Dan McCabe from Naas is pulling in thousands of views for his cover of 'Grace' which tells the tragic love story of Joseph Plunkett and Grace Gifford. Dan McCabe (22) is from Naas and he is a singer and guitarist, having developed a passion for music from a young age. He told KildareNow recently: "I started gigging professionally about three years ago and since then I’ve played in venues in TempleBar, London, Santa Ponca and all over Ireland. Music is a passion for myself and recording music is also another thing I put a lot of interest into. I only recently started posting videos to social media, 1 month ago to be precise and it’s been a great experience to share my music with thousands and to get such lovely responses too is also very nice and I’m extremely grateful." Last week, Dan decided to do his own cover of the well-known Irish ballad 'Grace' which tells the doomed love story of Irish poet and republican Joseph Plunkett who was one of the planners of the 1916 Easter Rising and his love for Grace Gifford. Joseph Plunkett was present at the GPO during the Easter Rising with other leaders including Michael Collins and Patrick Pearse, and he was eventually executed in Kilmainham Gaol, with 'Grace' capturing the heart breaking final moments between Plunkett and Grace before Plunkett's death. Dan's heartfelt cover of the ballad has almost 40,000 views since he posted his cover on social media at the weekend and he has said that he is delighted by the largely positive reactions, and he also got plenty of views in January for his stirring cover of 'Shallow' from the hit movie 'A Star is Born.' Next up for Dan will be a few more local gigs around Kildare and plenty of more exciting things ahead for 2019 so watch this space! Dan is active on social media and has his own website dmc-music.webnode.com and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/dan.mccabe.796/videos/998059627051129/?lst=100010331415296%3A100005413025748%3A1549895473
