The award-winning musical 'Hamilton' is set to kick-off its Dublin run on Friday 20 September in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

This is the first time that the hit American show will be presented to Irish audiences. There was clearly much anticipation for its Irish debut, as it was the fastest-selling show ever at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

The premise of the show is undoubtedly unique, with the story of the first US Secretary of the Treasury being presented as a hip-hop musical.

'Hamilton' first opened in New York, off-Broadway in February 2015. The show quickly became a cultural sensation, winning 11 Tony Awards, 7 Oliver theatre awards in London, and a Pulitzer prize for drama in 2016.

On its first day at the box office, more than 90,000 tickets were sold for the production which broke all previous records. Irish audiences have paid up to €100 for tickets to the show.

Almost 145,000 people are expected to see the production at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre over its course in Ireland.

The show officially opens tomorrow and will run until 16 November.
