Co Kildare gastropub gets top food award from famous critic

Lock 13 Gastropub and Craft Beer House in Sallins has scooped an award from well-known food and hospitality writer Georgina Campbell.

Georgina described Lock 13 as "a pleasingly traditional pub that offers good quality, mainly local, food at reasonable prices - and an exceptional choice of craft beers to complement the food."
Other food critics that have given very positive reviews of Lock 13 include Lucinda O'Sullivan and the late Paulo Tullio.
Barry said: "We pride ourselves on working with as many local quality suppliers that we can so that there is little time wasted between the land and the plate ensuring fresh and tasty food for our customers as well as supporting the local economy.
"Innovation seems to be part of Lock 13's offering whereby a few years ago it went down the road of removing traditional main stream drink products favouring more craft beers and spirits. Today craft beer enthusiasts can choose from over 40 craft beers in Lock 13 along with 21 International and Irish Gins and over 20 different types of whiskey.
In 2017 Lock 13 will be launching its own brewery making it Kildare's first brew pub in the county.
Diners in Lock 13 can also enjoy the unique experience of a pre-dinner barge trip before their meal.
