Co Kildare's 'Active Communities Programme' gets shortlist

An Active Communities Programme in Co Kildare is now shortlisted for Health and Fitness Award.
Independent Cllr Sorcha O'Neill's nomination for the 'Active Communities Programme' from Kildare Sports Partnership and Leadership Programme is now one of seven finalists in a national competition at the Mansion House, Dublin, on April 20, next.
Funding was provided in January for several free courses throughout the county that are soon coming to a conclusion.
The program itself was the first of its kind which included a series of countywide free courses in active leadership in the community, cooking and nutrition, older persons exercise classes, disability awareness training and much more. Courses took place in Athy, Suncroft and Naas and will culminate in a 5k fun run on Sunday, April 15, that starts from the Council Offices in Devoy Quarter in Naas at 11am.
