Construction of new M7 ramps outside Naas and Sallins Bypass will begin later this year

Minister for Transport Shane Ross has revealed that the construction will begin in the fourth quarter of this year, having been quizzed by Kildare North TD Bernard Durkan in relation to the development. Construction company Atkins were awarded the contract to carry out the work last year, and though construction was initially pencilled in for commencement in late 2017, it has yet to begin.
The scheme will also see the development of a new bypass for Sallins, which will see 1.7km of dual-carriageway and 2km of single carriageway going by the town centre. A new interchange off the M7 between J10 Naas South and J9 Naas/Sallins will also be constructed to alleviate traffic problems on the motorway, while a new ramp will replace the existing one at J10 Naas South.
The scheme includes six new structures, including two bridges over the River Liffey, a bridge over the Grand Canal, the new Osberstown interchange bridge over the M7 motorway and a minor road bridge carrying Osberstown Road over the Sallins bypass. The Sallins bypass bridge under the main Dublin – Cork railway line will be constructed by Irish Rail under a separate contract.
