Tributes paid to Kildare 'wonderful character' who passed recently

Tributes have been paid to a Kildare “wonderful character” who sadly passed recently.

Jim Fingleton, Model Farm, Athy, Kildare / Stradbally Laois passed away suddenly on February 8 2025.

Jim will be missed deeply by his loving wife Elizabeth, his daughters Anna, Louise and Ciara, sons Stephen and Patrick and his grandchildren Ella and Florence.

He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken brothers John, Chris and Barry, sisters Bride and Shelia and by his extended family and friends.

Jim is gone to join his parents Paddy and Mary and dear sister Sally.

Heartfelt tributes on RIP.ie included: “So sorry to hear of Jim's passing, he was a wonderful character always in good form, with a smile and time to chat. Condolences to all his family x.”

And: “Our sincere condolences to Sheila Jim and all the Moore and fingleton family on the sad passing of Jim may he rest in peace.”

While another mourner wrote: “Our sincere sympathy to Elizabeth(Liz), Anna, Louise, Ciara, Stephen and Patrick on the death of your beloved Husband and Dad, to Ella and Florence his adored Grandchildren, to John, Chris, Barry, Bride and Sheila his dear siblings.

“We will miss Jim's visits to our house when he always called in for a chat and refreshments while out for his Sunday cycle on his bike. He was such a gentleman always speaking so proudly of his wonderful family. Jim will never be forgotten, a larger than life character. Words cannot express what we feel for you all at this very sad time. Be assured of our prayers for you also. May Jim's gentle soul rest in peace.”

And another added: “Sincere sympathy to the Fingleton family, remember Jim from his days in gracefield, a great character. The Fleming family boley.”

Jim will repose at his home at Model Farm, Athy (R14 V674) on Thursday and Friday from 2pm until 7pm.

A celebration of his life will take place at 11am on Saturday the 15th of February at St. Michael's Parish Church, Athy (R14 C826), see livestream link http://www.parishofathy.ie

Burial afterwards in Oakvale Cemetery, Stradbally.

Family flowers only please. Donations are welcomed in lieu of flowers to UNICEF, for children in Gaza.

House private at all other times please.
