RIP: Kildare man fondly remembered as 'a lovely gentleman'

A Donadea, Co Kildare man who passed earlier this week has been fondly remembered as "a lovely gentleman."

Daragh Connolly – late of Rathcoffey and Coill Dubh, Co Kildare – passed away peacefully, but unexpectedly, surrounded by his loving family at Naas General Hospital on Monday, December 1 2025.

Daragh is lovingly remembered by his devoted and cherished wife Ramona, adored son Oran, mother Rose, uncle Jimmy (Da), pre-deceased by his father Peter and his aunt Irene.

He is sadly missed by his siblings Mary and Paul, father and mother-in-law John and Bella, sisters-in-laws, Colleen, Shirley, Linda and Ann-Marie, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and many good friends.

Daragh will be reposing at Oliver Reilly Funeral Home, Woods House, Clane, (W91YPX4) on Sunday (Dec. 7) from 3pm - 7pm.

The removal will take place from his residence (family only) by Oliver Reilly Funeral Directors on Monday (Dec. 8) at approximately 10:30am to arrive at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Rathcoffey for 11am Funeral Mass, followed by burial in Mainham Cemetery, Clane.

Tributes paid to Daragh on RIP.ie this week include: “Ramona Oran Rose Jimmy Mary Jake & all the Connolly & Mooney families. Deepest sympathies on the passing of Daragh. We are so sorry for your loss & thinking of you all.”

And: “My deepest sympathy to Daragh's family & friends. I was saddened to hear of his passing, he was a lovely gentle man & I enjoyed my chats with him when he came in on the weighbridge to tip. Rest easy Daragh.”

While another mourner wrote: “Our deepest sympathy to Ramona, Johnny, Bella and extended family on Darragh’s sudden death. Thinking of you all at this sad time. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”

And another added: “Rest in peace Daragh, you were a great work mate. You are out of pain now. Condolences to your family, friends, and work mates BNM SilliotHill.”
