Get-together organised between locals and Syrians in Monasterevin

Members of the public are invited to an Integration Evening with Syrian refugees in Monasterevin GAA club on Friday.

The event has invited residents of the Emergency Reception and Orientation Centre (EROC) in the former Hazel Hotel in the town.

The get-together, which will showcase Irish and Syrian song and dance from 7pm to 9pm, is being organised by Monasterevin Youth Action.

A spokesperson for the event said: "This is a public event so please join us for what will be an enjoyable evening of song and dance between the Syrian and Irish communities living in Monasterevin.

"Hear about Syrian history and culture and enjoy an evening of children and adult singing and dancing from both countries. "Refreshments will be also served."

This event is sponsored by the Communities Integration Fund.
