Images of young teenagers engaged in sexual activity were found a man’s phone, it was claimed at Naas District Court.
Before the court was a male in his 30s, who whose address was given as Finglas, Dublin 11 and who is being prosecuted for alleged possession of child pornography at at address in Sallins on August 17, 2018.
Sgt Dave Hanrahan said it will be claimed that the man had three short videos on his phone depicting 13-14 year olds engaged in sexual activity.
He also told the court that a garda had received information about the allegation.
Free legal aid was granted to the defendant and the court heard that he is originally from India.
The court was also told that there is no need for an interpreter.
Judge Desmond Zaidan was told that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has opted for trial by jury and the judge remanded the defendant on continuing bail for the preparation of a book of evidence to September 6.
