A psychiatric report was given on a man aged in his 20s accused of being involved in three separate knife incidents in Newbridge.
Last month, Naas District Court was told that the man, who cannot be identified at present due to reporting restrictions imposed by Judge Desmond Zaidan, stands accused of threatening three separate people with a knife in Newbridge, specifically on Eyre Street, the Main Street and Edward Street on November 13 last.
On the latest court date (Thursday, December 7 last), a psychiatric report was given to the judge in relation to the defendant, who appeared via video-link as he is currently remanded in custody.
According to the report, it was heard that the man 'is in denial' about the state of his mental health (the relative of the accused previously told the judge that their family has a history of mental illness).
However, the report also said that the man is fit to indicate a plea in his case.
The judge adjourned the case to December 21, to allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
