KILDARE LATEST: Solar farm being planned between Punchestown and Ballymore Eustace by Laois company

Ten year planning permission is sought for a solar farm between Punchestown and Ballymore Eustace.

A planning application has been lodged with Kildare County Council by Portlaoise-based company, EEL Mullacash Solar Ltd.

The site for the proposed development is an area spanning Flemingtown South (Tonaphuca), Donode Big, Sillagh and Swordlestown South.

The planning documents refer to a solar energy development with a total site area of 128.66 hectares.

The proposed development would comprise a series of substations and ground-mounted solar panels.

Approval is also sought for a temporary construction compound as well as security fencing and CCTV.

The planned solar farm would be operational for 40 years, according to planning documents.
