A Kildare town man was fined on Thursday, March 7 last for insulting a Garda Detective in Newbridge.

Gardaí told Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court that Jordan Howe, with an address listed as 44 Oaktree Avenue in Kildare town, committed the offence at round 11.40pm on February 17 last.

The 20-year-old was spotted by Det Seamus Doyle on Edward Street and stuck his middle finger up at Det Doyle.

Mr Howe also told Det Doyle: "What are you looking at Seamus, you handicap?"

The court was told that Mr Howe has three previous convictions, two of which relate to public disorder offences.

Judge Zaidan decided to fine Mr Howe €500, and gave him three months to pay this fine.
