A man waved a tool used to castrate horses at tree surgeons, it was claimed at Naas District Court.

Gerry Moynan, 69, whose address was given as Killyon, Dunfierth, Johnstownbridge, was prosecuted for assault on April 19, 2022, at Killyon, Dunfierth.

Sgt Mary Meade said the defendant verbally abused tree surgeons one the date  and hit one in the back.

He then went to a vehicle and took out an emasculator and waved it around.

Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed a fine of €400.

The judge heard that the man had no previous convictions.
