Temporary road closures have been announced by Kildare County Council (KCC) in relation to two areas located near Kildare town.
KCC, on behalf of Cleantech Civils, gives notice in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994 that it intends to close the the R401, Rahilla Glebe, Kildare, from the R401 at Southgreen Road Junction to the R401 at L1004 junction.
This road is being closed for a total of 20 days (between Monday, June 24, 2024 and Saturday, August 31, 2024) in order to facilitate the installation of new electrical power ducting.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
Southbound vehicles travelling on the R401 will divert left along the L3003 (circa 7 kilometres) as far as the junction with the R415.
Turn right onto the R415 / Rathbride Road and continue (circa 2km) until a right turn onto Rathbride Abbey and continue along Rathbride Demense (circa 1km) as far as the Dunmurry Road / R401 junction.
North bound vehicles will travel vice versa.
For the second road closure, KCC intends to close the L7016, Old Road, Southgreen, Kildare, from the R401 to the L-80184 Link road.
This closure will occur for 30 days (between Monday, June 24, 2024 and Saturday, August 31, 2024) in order to facilitate the installation of new electrical power ducting.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
Southbound vehicles travelling along the R401 are to continue along the R401 (circa 1.5km) as far as the junction with the Rathbride Demense Road, turn right onto the Rathbride Demense road and continue as far as the L7016 junction (circa 0.5km).
Northbound vehicles will travel vice versa.
Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the Council and An Garda Síochána.
Emergency access and restricted local access will be maintained.
KCC has said that any objections/observations should be lodged in writing to: The A/Senior Executive Officer, Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, County Kildare, or directly on the consultation portal at https://consult.kildarecoco.ie/en on or before 5pm on Monday, May 13, 2024.
