Criminal damage caused to entrance of supermarket in County Kildare

Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage which occurred at a supermarket in Athy.

The incident was discussed by Garda Chris Fallon of Leixlip Garda Station when he appeared on KFM earlier today.

He said that the incident occurred at the Lidl supermarket in Athy on Saturday, August 17 last.

Gda Fallon explained that at around 12.30am on the date in question, two males rolled a shopping trolley into the front doors of the supermarket, causing damage to the doors.

He concluded by saying that anyone with information can contact Athy Garda Station on 059 863 4210.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about the incident, a garda spokesperson had this to say: "Gardaí received a report of an incident of criminal damage that occurred in Athy, County Kildare on August 17, 2024 at approximately 12.30am.

"Investigations are ongoing," the spokesperson added.
