There are more than 500 bus stops in County Kildare.
And Kildare County Council says that it’s working with the National Transport Authority to prioritise improvements to the stops.
It is also intended to compile a list of potential bus shelters “and other improvements” for a number of locations. This will be followed by public consultation.
Cllr Evie Sammon sought information about the infrastructure and said that drawings for a bus strop in Ballymore Eustace were done two years ago.
She added: “There is no official bus stop - never mind a shelter.”
Cllr Bill Clear questioned the need for bus stops in some areas and speculated that the stop outside Carton House, for example, does not get much use.
He said priority should be given to areas where there is a demand to use bus services.
“Let’s prioritise the most used bus stops first,” he told a Naas Municipal District meeting.
