Kildare Dog of the Week: Izzy has simple needs - a warm, comfortable bed and a loving family

Shelter life is becoming increasingly stressful for Izzy in her senior years, and she would love nothing more than a home of her own, where she can enjoy the comfort, companionship and peace she needs.

Izzy is a small dog with simple needs. A warm, comfortable bed, a loving person or family to call her own, and a very short daily walk would make her very happy. If time for a walk is limited, she is equally content to enjoy a game of fetch in the garden. A tennis ball is undoubtedly her favourite toy, although she is also perfectly happy entertaining herself with toys she can take to bed when it’s time to relax.

Izzy prefers the quieter things in life and can find larger dogs and excessive barking stressful. For this reason, she would be best suited to a home where she can be the only dog and enjoy the undivided attention of her human companions. Despite her age, Izzy still has plenty of life and love to give and is always happy to enjoy some gentle exercise, followed by cuddle time.

Perhaps you know someone looking for a small, affectionate companion who doesn’t have demanding exercise needs. Izzy could be the perfect match for a retired person, a couple or someone who works from home. What she needs most is a calm, settled environment, a consistent daily routine and people who will not leave her alone for long periods. Adopting a senior dog can be one of the most rewarding decisions a person can make.

Older dogs are often overlooked in shelters, yet they can make wonderful companions. Izzy deserves the chance to spend her golden years in a home where she feels safe, loved and truly belongs. Could you offer Izzy the peaceful retirement she craves?
