Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board starting Community Addiction Studies this November and are open to applications

People can now apply for a course on addiction studies supplied by Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board, in Naas, due to start in November.
The part-time Community Addiction Studies Course will run for 60 hours, over 20 weeks, in a Naas venue on Thursday, along with two Saturdays.
The purpose of the course is to enable people to learn about drugs and their effects, examine their own attitudes, develop an understanding of addiction, become more effective in their personal development and develop the skills and knowledge to become more effective in responding to drug misuse in their own community.
The profile of the learner is community members who feel that they would like to become more effective when it comes to drug or alcohol issues.
There are no specific education requirements for this course but written accreditation forms part of the course. Accreditation is at QQ1 Level which is equivalent to Leaving Cert. Participants must be over 18. Voluntary or community work is desirable but not essential.
The application Committee selects participants based on written applications and interviews.
Cost: €50 contribution (€25 at registration). Support towards payment can be provided on request.
