The organisation was called to a location in Dublin 15

A wildlife group based in Kildare Town has revealed how it helped a 'very worried' woman following a very unusual discovery — specifically, one which would definitely give Indiana Jones (among many others) goosebumps!

Explaining the situation, Kildare Wildlife Rescue (KWR) said that its helpdesk team got an email on Monday, August 31 last, from ‘a very worried lady in Dublin 15’.

According to the woman, she had found a snake in her compost bin!

The organisation, which is also a registered charity, continued: “One of our local Helpdesk team who also runs a small animal boarding service headed out to collect them to find him boxed up and cozy in her greenhouse.

“It seems that he had been found a couple of days earlier, and the lovely couple who had found him had already spent the past couple of days calling around to all the local services they could think of looking for assistance, to no avail sadly!”

Fortunately, the story does have a happy ending — KWR explained: “This little one is settled into foster with Kim, has received rehydration and electrolytes, is cozy, active and bright.

“They have settled into foster well and nobody has come forward for them yet.”

The organisation concluded: “We have some excellent contacts who should be able to help with rehoming, though so far the humans in his new digs have taken a real shine to this new, inquisitive little lodger!”

KWR also made headlines last week when it released an appeal for dog and cat food.
