Man to climb Africa's highest mountain in aid of Kildare Wildlife Rescue

Donations to this fundraiser can be made online
A man is preparing to climb Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, in aid of Kildare Wildlife Rescue (KWR).
According to the description of the online fundraiser, one Phillip Griffin is teaming up with KWR for the venture.
It follows after KWR notably made headlines when the charity rescued a stricken swan near a motorway.
Explaining why he chose to help KWR, Phillip said that the organisation ‘does incredible work helping injured, sick and orphaned wild animals that often have nowhere else to go’.
He continued: “Many people don’t realise how limited wildlife rescue services are in Ireland; if a wild animal is injured, ordinary vets may not always have the facilities, licences or specialist setup needed for rehabilitation, and that’s where centres like KWR are vital.
“Every donation, no matter the amount, will help provide food, treatment, shelter, transport and care for wildlife in need.”
Phillip concluded: “If you can support, I’d really appreciate it.”
His ambitious climb of Mt Kilimanjaro, which measures at a whopping at 5,895 metres above sea level (19,341 feet) will take place in February of 2027.
However, the fundraiser is now live on idonate.ie.
It has a fundraising goal of €3,000.
