Kildare North TD and Minister, James Lawless, was host for Tánaiste Micheál Martin during his whistle-stop tour of the North Kildare constituency.
The Fianna Fail leader and James Lawless created a buzz as they visited shops, cultural centres, pubs and other local spots during a canvass of Kildare towns.
Mr Lawless showed Mr Martin around, introducing him to the regulars at Naas Men’s Shed where they were welcomed by Norman Farragher, catching up with shoppers at the cheese counter in Dunnes Stores in Naas and with manager Laura Maher of O’Reilly’s SuperValu in Sallins.

The whirlwind canvass also saw the leading Fianna Fail TDs attend the launch of the Brigid 1,500 festival hosted by Naas Cultural Centre, after they first hopped into the town’s new library.
After this it was on to Sallins train station where they met some of the commuters coming in during evening rush hour.
The final stop of the evening was to the Railway Inn bar, where the Tánaiste tried his hand at pulling a pint before settling in to chat with members of the Sallins History Society.
