Plan to install more shelters at bus stops across Kildare
Kildare Co Council said it is working to improve facilities at bus stops across Kildare.
Councillor Daragh Fitzpatrick asked that the council installs a bus shelter at Ticknevin Bridge to facilitate students who
are collected at the bridge every morning.
Kildare Co Council said that there are over 500 existing bus stop locations in County Kildare and that Kildare County Council is working with the National Transport Authority (NTA) to review and prioritise improvements to bus stop infrastructure.
Officials added: "When this review is complete a list of potential bus shelter locations will be circulated to councillors.
Councillor Peter Melrose also called on the council to consider warning signage and/or road markings for pedestrians and bus stops along the R403 at Baybush, Straffan (between Friel’s Pub and New Road Junction).
The Council said that the R403 is a main regional road linking Clane with Celbridge and Maynooth and that the existing signage complies with current guidelines.
