Local Fianna Fail Minister James Lawless TD has welcomed the announcement by Minister for Education Helen McEntee of a €65 million investment in schools to support digital learning and funding minor building works.

Minister Lawless said: “Over €35 million is being used from this crucial €65 million investment to fund all special, primary, and post primary schools Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

“This funding will issue shortly to all recognised special, primary, and post-primary schools around the country and here in Kildare. Our schools here in Kildare will receive over €1.6 million specifically for their ICT.

This will help our local schools with the maintenance and improvements of their ICT technology, as well as helping schools to use ICT in their teaching, learning and assessments. This is crucial to help students who are learning these required skills needed in our schools and going forward in their lives.”

The Minister concluded: “Kildare Schools will also receive €1.2 million in minor works payments which are vital in supporting our primary and special schools. Maintaining school buildings is vitally important in promoting health and safety, in providing a welcoming learning environment for their pupils."
