Local gardai, councillors and residents joined together recently to offer their support for the St Laurence's NS 'Walking Bus' initiative, Sallins, Kildare, which took place on Friday, May 23.

The Parents Association, with the support of St Laurence's NS, had been running a pilot 'Walking Bus' every Friday morning over the past four school terms.

The initiative was designed to encourage active travel and improve road safety.

In its final weeks, the 'Walking Bus' saw record participation, with 164 pupils walking to school via the playground route, which required supervision due to its passage through the school car park.

The Parents Association decided to conclude the pilot, with the final two Fridays in May marking the end of the initiative.

The Parents Association, along with volunteers, parents, and pupils, would like to express their deep appreciation towards the community’s support throughout the project.
