Deputy Farrelly asked the Minister if she would provide “the current and planned expansions of primary schools in north Kildare, in tabular form, and the status of same.”

In her response, the Minister pointed out that from 2020 to date, 51 school building projects have been completed in Co. Kildare of which 30 were in North Kildare, 11 at post primary level and 19 at primary level.

These projects were delivered under the Large Scale and Additional Accommodation schemes and the Modular programme.

The Minister told Deputy Farrelly that currently there are 21 school building projects under construction in Co. Kildare of which four are new school building projects.

Of these 11 are in North Kildare, four at post primary level and seven at primary level.

The Minister said: “There are 56 school building projects in Co. Kildare moving through the various stages of design, of which 11 are new school building projects.

“Of the 56 projects, 33 are in North Kildare, 10 at post primary level and 23 at primary level. Nine of the eleven projects are new school buildings projects, four at post primary level and five at primary level.

“Individual project timelines are determined by their complexity and their current stage in the pipeline. The position of individual projects evolves as they advance through various design, planning and delivery stages.”

The Minister concluded by telling Deputy Farrelly that the status of all projects is set out at www.gov.ie, which she said is updated on a regular basis to “to reflect project progress through the various stages of capital appraisal, site acquisition, design, tender and construction.”
