Naas Roads Policing Unit (#NaasRPU) reported a shocking detection in Allenwood, Co Kildare this week, as the August Bank Holiday Road Safety Campaign rolled out across Kildare and Carlow.
Gardaí stopped a vehicle after the driver was observed not wearing a seat belt. Incredibly, the seat belt was clipped into place behind the driver, who was sitting on it - a blatant disregard for their own safety.
Further checks revealed that the vehicle had:
No insurance
No tax
No valid NCT
The vehicle was seized at the scene, with a court appearance to follow.

A message from An Garda Síochána Kildare stated:
“Think Safety This Bank Holiday Weekend.
We’re asking all road users to: Wear your seat belt correctly—every journey, every time.
Ensure your vehicle is insured, taxed, and roadworthy.
Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Obey speed limits.
Stay alert and avoid distractions, especially mobile phones
Let’s keep our roads safe—for ourselves, our passengers, and others.
